The Centre & Retreats
The Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta Spiritual Centre has been established to help fulfill three Missions given by God to the Society of Servants of God through Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta.
The three missions are:
- To help people realise the divine self within.
- To introduce and propagate spiritual values in all walks of material life such as economics, politics, law, education and in society in general.
- To bring about unity in the diversity of religions.
Of the above three missions, the first is the highest mission. It is a spiritual mission but has the narrowest scope because most people are not interested in realizing the divine self within.
The second mission can be classified as a material mission. It is the broadest mission but is the lowest from a spiritual point of view.
The third mission is a religious mission in which the focus is the common spiritual basis of all religions.
People who are seriously interested in living a life based upon spiritual values will be helped in every way to grow towards God one step at a time, in time through spiritual retreats ranging from 2 to 5 days.
Those who come to assert their own points of view will be thoroughly discouraged.
Self-Surrender Stand
One main objective of this Society is to help people to become God-centered in their everyday life. This can be achieved only by dethroning self-centeredness.
This Society therefore cannot help those who assert their ego but helps those who desire to achieve the goal by means of disciplined self-restraint, leading to self-surrender and ultimately to self-annihilation.
All genuine seekers are welcome and are encouraged in every way to solve problems, difficulties and doubts, but those who come for self-satisfaction or self-assertion are discouraged.
Why Dahanu
Via a notification dated June 20, 1991, the Ministry of Environment and Forests declared Dahanu Taluka as a green zone. Dahanu is situated on the West Coast of India and is close to the congested city of Greater Mumbai. Dahanu is renowned for its chikoo farms of which there are many and has a very nice beach. The air is clean and so is the water and the climate is very pleasant for 9 months of the year.
Dahanu is very accessible by road and railway. There are many local and fast trains between the major cities of Mumbai and Surat and Dahanu Road Railway Station.
The Centre
The Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta Spiritual Centre is located on an 11 acre working chikoo farm about 6 kilometres from Dahanu Road Railway Station on the Kosbad Road, going towards the town of Golvad. There are many autorickshaws available at the station and the rickshawalas charge Rs. 150 from the station to the spiritual centre.
The centre can accommodate 21 guests at a time but we prefer to host 10 at a time for maximum efficiency. All guests are provided with a bed, linens, hand and bath towels, toiletries, a cupboard in which to place their personal items, free food and instructions. The rooms are airconditioned to provide relief during the intense summer heat which generally is from Mid-March to Mid-June.
We do not ask for donations but if people choose to give, we will accept provided they realize that it is a privilege to give and not an obligation to do so.

Meet Your Teacher
At the Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta Spiritual Centre, seekers are guided by Mr. Bahram R. Shahmardaan, the senior-most living disciple of Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta, founder of the Society of Servants of God. Bahram’s life and teachings are rooted in the timeless spiritual principles received directly from Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta, who is a great avatar. Bahram realised his insights through personal experience by living his life according to these principles.
A Journey Shaped by Seeking
Born into a Zoroastrian family and raised in the culturally diverse city of Mumbai, Bahram grew up amidst many faiths and traditions. Exposure to different religions from an early age awakened a deep question within him: what is the true purpose of life?
His search led him through the writings and discourses of many spiritual thinkers, but the answers came only when he met Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta in 1967. Under his guidance, Bahram discovered the common spiritual foundation that unites all religions. From then on, his path became one of learning, living, and embodying these universal principles.
Wisdom Through Practice, Not Theory
Bahram’s spiritual insights do not come from academic study, but from living the principles of truth, self-purification, surrender, and inner transformation. Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta's core message as interpreted by Bahram is simple yet profound.
Spiritual growth begins when we become willing to unlearn, empty ourselves, and live truthfully.
He reminds seekers that spirituality is not about beliefs or intellectual knowledge—it is about inner experience through disciplined self surrender. Anyone who sincerely practices these principles can discover their own unique spiritual insights.
A Universal Path for All Seekers
At the Dahanu Centre, Bahram mentors individuals from all backgrounds and faiths, helping them:
- Understand the deeper purpose of life
- Overcome inner conflicts and limitations
- Experience unity beyond religious boundaries
- Walk their personal journey toward spiritual awakening
The Centre exists to support sincere seekers in beginning—and completing—their Journey of Life Eternal.

- The Journey of Life Eternal (and Youth Edition)
- Love and Hate: Manifesting Love and Transforming Hate
- Christianity and Islam: In What Language Does God Speak?

If you are searching for clarity, inner peace, or the deeper meaning of life, the Dahanu Centre offers personal guidance based upon universal eternal principles that are compatible with all religious traditions and will enable those who implement these principles in their life to progress towards their personal Journey of Life Eternal.
Code of Conduct for Seekers
The root of the word disciple is discipline. Guests have to conduct themselves with humility and speak only when necessary. Casual conversation should be avoided.
It is essential to respect particularly the workers who serve the guests.
Just as a three legged stool cannot stand on two legs, in order to succeed people need to follow the following three principles which are:
- Humility to Receive
- Discipline to Achieve
- Commitment to complete and fulfill
Unless you practice all the above three principles, you will never succeed and of the three principles, the most important is humility.
Who Should Apply
All sincere seekers who wish to learn the spiritual principles that will enable them to free themselves from the karmic cycles of birth, life and death and complete their personal Journey of Life Eternal with humility, discipline and commitment.
Who Should Not Apply
Those who are attached to their strong preconceived ideas about what spirituality is and insist on asserting their point of view will not learn. This is because you only learn if you realize you don't know; so as long as you think you know, you'll be unable to learn.
